transatlantic transformations (2010), Aimée Xenou & friends

transatlantic transformations brought together classical material elements from the area of sculpturing with stories – stories as told by the ocean. Both of the components, bronze sculptures and narrations, are space-influencing factors. Between January 2010 and summer 2010, the sculptures and the narratives were moved by an ever-changing performance team through four geographical contexts, four different languages and four temperature ranges. 

transatlantic transformations tells us about how what a person is, is deeply connected to the social, historical, geographical, and lingual ‘places’ in which the person is located. At the same time, these four factors are transitory, as a place cannot be captured in its materiality as such, but lives through the stories that humans within this space ‘resonate’ with.
